NOLO (No One Left Behind) is our Annual fundraiser Dinner/Auction is our once a year opportunity to raise funds for our mission, outside of our regular donor base. Last year we successfully raised over $63,000 for a new transport vehicle.
This fundraiser will entail a dinner as well as an auction with the end goal to offset our Insurance premium for the mission. As you probably know we had an arson fire in April of last year. This unfortunately made us at the Rescue Mission pretty untouchable for insurance. We have found only one underwriter who will now cover the Fairbanks Rescue Mission and their premium is $85,000 more than our previous coverage.
All other funds will go toward our Enterprise Unit.
Enterprise is a jobs training program that gives qualified guest of the Mission an improved dorm living space, a monthly stipend and the opportunity to gain critical job skills working in our Enterprise shop as well as contracting off-site for different public and private organizations. In addition, Enterprise crew members are given soft and hard skills training in our classroom along with mentorship and personalized case management.
At the Mission we believe the best answer to homelessness is a job and the Enterprise Unit has proven to be a pathway to employment. Enterprise also helps us to cover our operating costs from the sale of Merchandise made in our shop as well as fees from contracting.
The Enterprise Unit was chosen by the State Division of Parks to clean up and then maintain the Chena Campground at the University Avenue Bridge and we have helped our community by remediating dilapidated property and light construction.
Right now we’re making insulated and heated dog houses in our shop and hope to move on to chicken coups and roll on roll off saunas that will fit in garages.
People in Fairbanks are getting excited about Enterprise. We hope you will too by supporting this vital program at the NOLO fundraiser on Thursday, April 13th, 2023
